Experience

I have vast academic experience, and I especially enjoy supporting students as they transition from one level of schooling to the next. More specifically, I enjoy helping students move from high school to college, and from college into their professional pursuits! I am skilled in test prep and writing composition. I share both of these skills with students to help smooth their school applications and life transitions. In helping students prepare for exams, I teach many approaches for writing, time management, and vocabulary. My experience as a tutor began in writing, when I worked as a tutor for the writing center at my college. I also taught private music lessons, and worked as a teacher's assistant in undergraduate classrooms in African studies and music. I graduated from Wesleyan University and from Oberlin College. Currently, I am a PhD student focused in West African music at Harvard University. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English, my Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology, and my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies. I am available to work in many subject areas, but my favorites are literature, writing, critical reading, French, and music. Aside from tutoring, I enjoy soccer, hiking, music and enjoying nature.
